"Gender Starts with Me"

  Adult Education Network (GAEN)with the financial support of the German Federal Foreign Office has been implementing the second phase of the project “Gender starts with me”. The first stage of project was successfully completed in Samegrelo, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions last year. On the 2nd of March 2016, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy in Georgia, Mrs. Monika Lenhard visited the Georgian Adult Education Network (GAEN) and together with the director of the network, Khatia Tsiramua, announced the start of the second phase of the project. The project “Gender Starts with Me” aims at raising public awareness on gender equality, protection of the rights of victims of domestic violence, domestic violence prevention and the importance of women’s participation in social life. This time the project is being implemented in Koda, Jvari, Chokhatauri and Leliani. Partners of the Georgian Adult Education Network are the local community organizations: Koda, Jvari, Chokhatauri and Leliani Ault Education and Community Education Centers. Main activities of the project areas follows: establishment of the the Women’s Clubs, trainings, round tables, public meeting with the successful women; documentary film screening, discussions on gender equality and domestic violence topics, discussions on legal issues, lectures/film screenings about famous women public figures; Forum theatre with participation of the beneficiaries, free psychological and legal consultations, and the project final festival - “Gender Starts with Me”.
